Every site is doing it, right? Thinking about what it is that they want to do into 2019 with gaming and their blog/YouTube channel/Instagram/whatever. We’ve been considering it quite a bit, and now we have some stuff to share with you!
Site Updates
First, we hope to do at least one other contest other than our anniversary month contest (which will be in March) – no idea what it will be, but we want to hook our supporters up with some cool stuff in 2019! Stay posted and we’ll see what we can do to spread the love!
As mentioned in the 2018 post from the other day, we also plan on posting more. We’ll be going back to our “at least twice a week” schedule, but it may not always be Tuesday and Friday. We always cross-post to Facebook and Twitter, so you can keep up with us there!
Board Game Challenges
Sarah, Scott, and I are joining forces and minds in order to put together the OSG 6×10 challenge! We each chose our favorite game of all time, and then we each got to pick one other game, and we’re going to play those 6 games 10 times each throughout the year. Our list is…
- Carcassonne (Marti’s #1 game of all time)
- 7 Wonders (Marti’s 2nd choice)
- Sagrada (Sarah’s #1 game of all time)
- Welcome To… (Sarah’s 2nd choice)
- Pandemic (Scott’s #1 game of all time)
- Flash Point Fire Rescue (Scott’s 2nd choice).
Those aren’t the only challenges that we’re embarking on, however. Sarah and I have 2 other challenges that we’re going for – one won’t be too hard, the other may be a little tough.
100×1 challenge: 100 different titles, 1 time each. This is the easy one, considering we played over 200 different games last year. We’re more going on this challenge just to see how far into the year it is when we hit 100 games played.
“Play What You Have Challenge:” We currently have 80-some games on our shelf of opportunity, and we have decided to try and take this head-on and get them all played throughout 2019. This doesn’t include expansions or escape room games, of which we have several as well.

Scott is doing 2 challenges himself as well. He’s doing 2 5×5 challenges (5 games, 5 times each) for solo gaming – one with games he’s played, ones with games he hasn’t gotten to the table yet. Here’s their breakdown:
Previously Played Solo Challenge:
- Legendary
- Arkham Horror: TCG
- Too Many Bones
- Hostage Negotiator
- Onirim
New to Solo Challenge:
- The Lost Expedition
- Nemo’s War
- Ravingspire
- Mage Knight (Ultimate Edition)
- Triplock

We don’t do hardcore challenges (where you can’t change things), so these are definitely subject to change if and when we decide it’s necessary. We believe that challenges are supposed to be fun, not work, so adjusting is always possible for our lists.
Conventions
We love going to conventions, and this year, we’re heading to three of them!
- Unpub – Hunt Valley (Baltimore), Maryland – March 22nd to 24th, 2019.
- Origins 2019 – Columbus, Ohio – June 12th to 16th, 2019.
- Pax Unplugged – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Date not announced yet (Likely December 6th through 8th, because if it’s on the same weekend it was this year it’ll start the day after Thanksgiving).
What are your ideas for the year? What sorts of challenges are you working on or have you decided to do other sorts of board gaming goals! Let us know in the comments or on social media – we can’t wait to hear from you!
Game On!
