Solo Musings: 10×10 Solo Challenge Progress Report

I’ve never done a 10×10 Challenge before, or really any kind of board gaming challenge, so I decided partway through this past January to do a 10×10 Challenge this year. The twist? All 100 plays have to be solo. I’m the Solitary Meeple, I like solo games (or at least I’m supposed to, haha), but I haven’t been playing as many as I probably could have been. I figured this would be a good way to get myself back into the gear and drive of playing solo games.

Back on January 10th, I finalized my list and tweeted a pic just to make sure it was on record (and so I was forced to commit to the ones I picked, for better or worse). I attempted to come up with a list ranging from light to heavy and with a nice variety so I wouldn’t get tired of anything in particular. I also wanted to include some new games I haven’t played yet to give me an excuse to get them to the table (ended up with half being new). It’s been a little over 2 months now and here’s my current progress:

As you can see, I’m not doing incredibly well so far, haha. I would be even further behind except I finally had time to try Onirim on my tablet last week to learn how it goes (I don’t count tablet plays for this challenge, though, only plays with the physical games) and then have played it several times during my lunch hour from work. It and Friday (which I needed to play for a review last month) are the only ones of the new games that I’ve managed to play so far (which leaves Triplock, Nemo’s War, and Lisboa).

I don’t think it’s terrible progress, but I’m leery that the heavier games are the ones that still have the most plays left (especially Lisboa). It’s still totally doable, I think, I’ll just have to make sure to plan some time for the heavier ones in the months to come so that I can ensure I have the time needed to play them. I have about 90 plays left so I’m going to aim for 30 every 3 months, or 10 per month, to hopefully hit my goal on time!

Have you done a 10×10 or other Challenge? How did you fare? Let me know in the comments here or on social media!

Game on!
